Labrum Tear in my Hip???

About two weeks ago I played a full 90 minutes in a football match. I felt fine after the game but later that night I woke up with severe dull ache in my left glut and groin. I persumed it was a groin strain. As the days passed and the injury seemed to improve, I contacted the club doctor and got an MRI scan.

The scan showed "a small effusion at the joint where the labrum is detached/torn from the acetabular". I am hearing conflicting reports on such an injury, some say an injection others recommend surgery in the UK.

I have an appointment with a hip specialist in Santry Sports Clinic in three weeks but I am hoping that it is not going to be bad news. The injury seems to be improving, with swimming and cycling causing no problem. Anybody have any info on such an injury, recovery time etc... would be much appreciated.

This will be locked because your asking for medical help but if your playing with a club that has a club doctor why are you asking on an online forum for help?

Tell us what the club is?!!!!!!!:D LOI?

Sorry Damokc, was just looking for info on the injury...keen to get back playing and was hoping to speak to someone who had a similiar injury. Didn't realise asking for medical help wasn't allowed. Thanks for the post

    Hi,

I had a labrum tear and de-generative wear and tear of my hip. Keyhole surgery performed and pain was gone. I had pain 24/7 and couldn't get an form of relieve. Surgery was performed at the SSC by Dr. Mulhall. Highly recommend him. Was advised to reduce running as I was doing 10/12 miles every other day. Did find my hip a little weak and running was do able but not as much and not as frequent.

    Regards,
