Advice on Invisible Edge products

    Hi Guys,

I got a Wapi from Invisible Edge a couple of years ago and it is a brilliant blade.

Thinking of getting a couple more razors and would appreciate your input as my searches have turned up a couple of goods and a couple of bad reviews.

    Items on the list are

Invisible Edge entry level razor - this is their own branded Dovo.

Thiers Issard entry level razor - this is what it is.

    BBW 200 x 75 boxed - can't go wrong with this - or can I?

Problem is they don't have any more Wapis and I have a couple of Dovos in need of a bit of maintenence. Two are CS, one SS.

Has anyone got any experience of any of these?

    Ta.

What do you mean by maintenence? Is it just a honing they need?

I know for a fact The Invisible Edge were banned from one of the major shaving sites for shilling their products.

This was a few years ago though and I have seen generally positive reviews about them since that happened so I think they've changed their ways.

Either of those razors should be fine. Both will need probably need a hone as factory edges are not great.

I haven't used one of those hones so I can't comment on them. The smallest ones are fairly cheap so I might pick one up at some point to try out.

Here is a thread about those hones though (I've skim read the first page so I think it could be useful) On closer inspection that link gets quite bitchy. I'm still leving it there though as there may be something of interest in it.

    Thanks mate,

One of my reasons for considering Invisible Edge is because they hone to shave ready before shipping, regardless of how they come out of the factory. My SS Dovo came new from a shop in Belgium and it's woeful if not put across a hone first and then stropped. Still can't get as good as the Wapi I got from them.

Most need a hone. One needs a bevel set and unfortunatley the Wapi suffered a minor stropping accident - can't really see it but you can feel it - it's in the middle so I can work around it.

Ah, I missed that about The Invisible Edge. It would be nice if all vendors of straight razos did that.

If you want I'll have a look at the razors that need a hone, free of charge.

As long as they are not warped I should be able to make them sharp for you. Whether or not they will be comfortable for you will be found out when you put blade to face.

If they're not comfortable you've not really lost anything.

I bought my first Coticule (first stone of any kind) from them - mainly because the box it came in was great!

Great service, even rang them to check if I needed to lap out a small ding in the stone, and got great advice.

    recommend highly.

Was that a yellow or a blue?
