On/Off Pedal for semi-acoustic, banjo etc....

    Hi all,

Not sure where to go with this one. I am thinking maybe a Boss Line Selector might work, but I have a 12 string semi and a banjo. Both just have a jack input, so no volume control.
For some gigs, would be working with a sound man, so rather than relying on him knocking the channel on and off, or the fader up and down, is there such thing as a pedal I could put in the chain that would knock the instrument on and off, like a kill switch.

I suppose my initial thinking is a volume pedal would work, just turn it on and off, but the only one I have is an active one, and I wouldn't mind keeping it for guitar or keys, so am wondering, as well as possibly getting another volume switch, is there a pedal that also does the same thing?

Doesn't a boss tuner kill the sound when its on? Could be an option.

yeah, I suppose, never thought about that one.....is it a waste of a tuner pedal in a live situation though....????

Electro Harmonix made a killswitch pedal last year for like 30 quid that'd be perfect for this, some stores might have them in stock still as they were only recently discontinued

If you're in anyway handy with a soldering iron you just need to wire up a switch and input/output jacks. When on you'd have the output jack connected and when off it would be disconnected. Pretty straight forward.

What about an A/B box, like this one:

One o/p to your amp, and one o/p goes nowhere.

    That would work just fine.

I have a Morley A/B switch . I have not tried it yet, but do not see how it could work. Maybe there is my solution. I will try it now......... :)

A tuner pedal is NEVER a waste :P

If I were you I'd get another volume pedal, for all the other cool **** it lets you do other than just fully on/full off. I have a passive Bespeco one that was pretty cheap, love it.

as in, I'd rather have it in a guitar chain over a banjo chain....

bespeco volume pedal would do I guess....

DIY - very simple switching between two guitars.
Just put wires to some small box.
    Parts cost about €10

You can use first section of switch as indicator circuit ( LED diode )
