I already receive ITV in HD so the only advantage to this is that the UTV regional news will now be in HD

Great news for those of us with NI Freeview and a Freesat postcoded to NI

Mr. Rabbit should be happy with that news, no UTV-HD has been bugging him for ages.

Indeed Cush, no more GRRRRRRs. Excellent news.

Wonder if it'll mean less of the weird late night programme schedules as well ?

    Still, worth waiting for.

With a Freesat box you can put in any post code. So why would you put in NI post code when UTV is not in HD

But it will be by the end of the year ???????

The only advantage of an English postcode by then will be ITV1+1 on the Sky/Freesat EPGs

Because I want BBC 1 NI and UTV at 101 and 103, the news is more relevant to me in Donegal, and I used to live in NI.
I am very well aware of how to use a Freesat box.
HD doesn't make the content any better.

I suppose if really want UTV it's an issue. I lived in London for years so I've all my boxes set to London and I seldom watch ITV anyway.

Speaking of ITV1+1, until recently I had UTV+1 on my FTA receiver (identified as 10125 with the UTV+1 dog) but I see now the ITV1+1 is displayed, when was it dropped?

This is is great news. Why is it so hard for some people to understand that other people prefer the NI EPG on freesat?

I suppose it's what you have got use to. In the south east we get Walse and only cable areas got NI TV. Only when Sky arrived did we get BBC NI. Also the further south the less relevance local programming has.

    Try 10891,H, 22000. I'm getting it on that & still displaying UTV + 1.

It left satellite a couple of weeks ago Cush.I've been told on Digital Spy it will return at some stage but I wouldn't hold my breath (knowing UTV)

Tried that a couple of minutes ago and it's definitely not there.

I've just finished watching the last 5 mins of the match on it. It's on Eurobird, by the way.

10.891 H. 22,000 ID 10125 was UTV+1 but is now showing Devon and Cornwall adverts, so whatever that region is.
In fairness to Kristopherus, who watches the ads anyway?:)

STV HD and UTV HD (and their respective +1′s) have tied up a deal with ITV which could see them join Freesat once Ofcom approval is granted.

    It just gets better !

They could sort the situation out on satellite as soon as Ofcom approves the deal, surely, without having to wait until DSO or the end of the year.

I wouldn't hold my breath on UTV HD on SKY or Freesat.....................I have heard that this will not happen until the END of the year!!

Indeed Paddy, though my point was they could have this sorted out on satellite rather than having to wait until DSO.

All they need is the go ahead from Ofcom.
