    Hi all,

I recently split with my girlfriend of 3 years. It wasn't a bad split. Sh was the one who decided it and I would have loved to still have her in my life, deep down we both wanted different things. I spoke to her a few days ago and she seemed really down. I know she doesn't want to get back together so that's not it. I don't really want to continue contact as it's not healthy for me but I also am worried about her. What should I do?

You should read some of the other threads regarding break ups on this forum for starters. Contact causes nothing but misery so you need to move on with your life, it's not your problem she's down. Forget about what she's doing/how she is, and move on with your life. That's all anyone's going to tell you.

    She finished with you.
Therefore, though you may still care for her, whatever is going on with her now is no longer your concern.
This break up is her decision and you would do well to just cut her off and get on with your life.
This is the only way for you to heal and move on.
Contact will be emotionally draining and nothing but a head melt.

True enuf. I was just worried about her. I ended up sending her a message and she responded well so all was good. I was very worried about her and wouldnt like her to do something stupid. Id feel very bad then knowing that I knew something wasnt right and didnt do anything. I agree that contact isnt good but I felt like I needed to see if everything was okay. hope she doesnt think I am chasing her now

Well just leave it at that and she wont be able to think you are chasing her.

I am recently out of a long term relationship myself and my ex seems to be on self destruct mode. A lot of posters here have some great advice and they have made me realise that there is absolutely nothing you can do for your ex.

She broke up with you, if she wants to get in contact then she will, if she needs you then she will but you contacting her is just going to cause yourself more pain in the long run. Cut ties and move on with your life. It sounds harsh but it's not your problem anymore. You have your own life to worry about
