I've only had my Raleigh Sprint Racer a few weeks now and the rear derailleur seems to have given up the ghost on the way home from work yesterday.

I am new enough to the bicycling world and have a limited technical knowledge. Is there a specific replacement I would need to get or would something like this be suitable: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=50469

    Cheers

Any rear derailleur will do given that you will be friction shifting. Try rothar, they have a bucket of the things and you might find a cheap second hand one.

I've a suntour accushift rear mech that works failing that.

Remove the cable, clean and lube the derailer and shifter with penetrating oil and ensure the short cable outer loop near the derailer is not clogged with dirt.
Then with the cable disconnected check that the derailer spring is not clogged and moves through the full range of gears. Reconnect the cable and retest before buying anything.
