soundcard 7.1

I do a lot of composition, and more recently in 7.1 i use windows xp (use an older version of cubase) and can't really decide on a soundcard to get that would meet my needs. I've been told to get either the asus xonar d2x or the emu 1212 both pci cards but would be open to other suggestions any one got any advice?
