Actual Salary vs Package Salary

A friend of mine was told he was getting a package worth x euro a year.

The salary offer later was y a year.
He has other benefits so they were expected to be different.
Since the package and salary rates are in his contract is he entitled to request a break down of his package as to how the salary part is determined?

Sorry Castie this is a little confusing especially the sentence in bold. Do you mean he has different benefits from people in a similar role?

Its not unusual for a company to advertise €100K package! When they actually mean €25K basic + car + commission + bonus + health care + pension contributions.

I once worked for a company where the OTE was £12,000 a month. Suffice to say the way the bonus and targets were calculated were a little... completely crazy.

All I mean is would he be entitled to say "Hey how do you work out its y amount"

Total package - value they assign to "benefits" = basic salary.

I say assign because this figure will most likely be pulled from someones a...

Basic salary will be set by various policy factors of the company and what they think they can get away with.
