I want to build mesh sides on the top of the boxes of my 10x5,1/2 trailer this spring. My trailer is galvanised so I soppose I would need to grind that off first.
Thats about all I know about this work though and would like to hear any advice ye have on how to start . Box or angle iron ? and what size where do I get the mesh and can I weld mesh to the box iron without melting or burning it. If anyone knows how to do this type of job ,I will post some pictures if needed.
    Thanks for any advice.

if it's a branded trailer, like an ifor williams or similar it might be worth contacting the manufacturer and ask how their high sides work.

I assume they replace the pillars that the sides attach onto. I've never actually looked in detail to be honest.

that would be how I'd do it on that style of trailer

    Hi O(A)P,

If it is an ifor williams I've heard that these ppl would occassionally have sides off a traded in trailer to sell. Think they are the main importers. In Naas.

Other than that the mesh from builder site fence panel might work with longer box iron posts at the corners, dont weld them to the sides you have, just make new posts. A good hardware shop should have the eyes, clips etc that you weld on. If you're really good then you could get your new posts dipped:cool:

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

Its a home made trailer. I intened to make 4 mesh sides that can be added to or taken off the lower boxes as required.
The back is easy enough it has two angle iron pillars so its just a matter of getting two longer ones and fixing the extra clips to them. However the front is not as straight forward, the front box has two lengths of box iron sticking out the bottom about 28" long that slot into two wider box irons that are each side of the drawbar.
I'll take a few photos and put them up, its not here at the moment though so it will have to wait a few days.
Thanks for the answers so far.
