Need help on 3 situations

    Hello,

I'm confused about the correct procedure on 3 points:

    1 - http://goo.gl/akiZg

Going from A which is the middle lane of a 3 lane road, to B. At the point of the yellow circle, should I move left following the curve of the road to align myself with point B's lane or is it better to not follow the curve of the road and drive in a straighter trajectory and drive over the white line.

It's somewhat difficult to see from this picture, maybe you have to be familiar with the road to see why it's actually easier to drive straight and over the line. Most other drivers I've seen drive over the white light/stripy box.

My feeling is that I should follow the curve of the road to the left and not cut the white line. But I've been beeped at a few times by drivers who are driving over the white line. One woman actually drove over the stripy box at high speed and I nearly t-boned her.

The traffic light on the left has a light that says "bus". Sometimes, the "bus" light comes on and the other light stays red. If I'm in the bus lane, and first at the light, should I drive? Or would it just allow for a bus to drive through?

My feeling is that it means "bus lane" and not "buses only". If I were in the bus lane and a bus was behind me, he'd be pretty annoyed if I didn't move off. I've seen 50/50 of cars driving through and staying put on this light.

Do I need to indicate left if I'm turning left?

My feeling would be no, however I thought there is no harm in doing so as it might alert an unaware pedestrian or driver of my intention.

Again it's about 50/50 with other drivers on this one.

Also, is it the same for any lane that is one direction only?

    Thanks for any help!

    1. I've driven through there many times but never noticed a problem. I must have another look the next time.

    2. I presume the bus lane is not a 24 hour one. If it is 7am to 7pm for example, the lights would apply to any vehicle on the bus lane outside of the restricted hours. Generally though you only find those type of lights on 24 hour bus lanes.

    3. I'd err on the side of caution and indicate anyway even though you must turn left. If all traffic was required to turn left it may be unnecessary. (Just to clarify for those unfamiliar with that junction - only buses, taxis, motorcycles and bicycles may turn right).

    Thanks for the reply.

On number 2 the bus lane is not 24 hour, so I'll continue to drive when it says "bus"! :)

3 is clear now, thank you.

On 1, I drove through it again today and there was a bus in the left lane beside me. The bus didn't follow the curve of the road so it forced me to drive over the line.
Other time a bus did follow the curve of the road and I was directly to it's right, so I was able to line up with the lane. This was one of the times I got beeped at by a taxi man behind me who was driving over the line.

Anyone else familiar with this particular road?
