Saorview for beginners - Gobsmacked

Recently been in a few different large TV retailers.
Was gobsmacked by the lack of knowledge regarding Saorview.
Not one TV set up to view Saorview on.
One resident expert who seemed to think it had BBC HD.
Another who said it didn't really matter and most of their TVs werent approved anyway.
Another who said if he tuned in a TV to show me it would disrupt their whole set up.

Forget about wondering how much the general public knows.
    Has anyone asked the retailers?

Actually Retail has improved. But only because a year ago it was unbelievable.

I suspect they know, all right. They just want to offload any uncertified stock. It is much easier to do this if you can subsequently plead ignorance. (Maybe I'm just too cynical...)

In some regards you may not be far off the mark.
One chap when asked about non approved TVs said they certainly wouldnt be refunding or replacing if they come back later with Saorview problems. Actually they stocked some of the latest and most impressive TVs but I wonder if they and the manufacturers may see little money in Saorview.

My cynical eye would wonder what influence UPC and Sky have in the matter.
