maybe this is wrong section but...im not sure.

I have been wondering for some time seeing as there is crap all chance of getting an apprenticeship these days are there any alternatives why cant fas do somthing to train people without them having to apply to 1,000 companies asking for an apprenticeship and being told that there are currently no positions available.

To qualify in a trade you need to have 3 years of hands on experience under a qualified individual.

Currrent system you find an employer, they sponser you and you at various stages you go to a training facility or IT for achedemic training. 4 years later subject to passing all stages of exams and asssments you get qualified.

Old system FAS took on apprentices, trained them in a training cenre for a year and then most of them couldnt get employers for the 3 years practial experience.

Cost the state a fortune and only a relatively small portion actually ever qualified.
