    Hey all.

I know there's been a post about this already, but it's from 2010 and didn't really have the info I was looking for.

As the post title says, I'm looking for a cheap(ish) scanner for photos with an auto feed.

Basically, I have hundreds (if not possibly over 1000) of photos that I'm looking to scan and keep in digital format. I have a flat bed scanner, but I imagine I'd go insane trying to do all these on a flat bed. I want something I can put a stack of photos into, and have them scanned. I've done a bit of searching online, and to be honest, can't really find if such a thing even exists. Any help, as always, would be appreciated.

    it does exsist

I have been looking at them for offering a bulk scanning service

but they are not cheapish, they are in excess of 1000 STG

Thanks for the reply. 1000STG? Wow, that's an insane amount of money. How can they cost that much?

1000stg isnt an expensive one either

my plan is to offer a bulk print scanning service

    ie low cost per scan

so you bring a box of prints and get a cd with them all on

and pretty quick turn around too

An Epson all in One Printer / Scanner / Coppier / (Fax) may do the trick for you, models like this one:http://www.epson.co.uk/Home-and-Home-Office/Printers-All-in-Ones/Home-printing/Epson-Stylus-SX620FW have auto document feeders (no experience putting prints through the ADF though) and may do the job for you.

paddy those things are not the best with photo type paper, its a bit thick and as its not quite a straight pass its not the best

also the scanner is no quicker so would not gain speed

Thanks for the replies guys, it's given me a general area to look in at least. I'm not too fussed about the scan speed itself, because I know it'll be the same unless I shell out a lot of money. If I could just get one that lets me put a stack into a feeder and leave it for a while, as opposed to sitting by the scanner, opening the lid, putting in photo, closing lid, pressing scan, waiting, opening lid, replacing photo, slowly going insane etc.

There are three scanners in Rua Red gallery in Tallaght. And they are simple to use, cheap to run (you pay only for the time you spend there in the MAC lab). They have also Hasselblad negative scanner (amazing piece of kit!). Bring headphones, mp3 player and spend few hours of pure happiness there.
