what speech impairments do everyone have, and how have worked around it? as in,what aids have used or methods if any,or did it go on its own?

am severely autistic and more fully non verbal than verbal though that can sometimes vary, when am verbal am echolalic and dont build language fast enough, probably because am a visual;and not language thinker, relieing on translating what is in head-into word form.

use various forms of communication-PECS [picture exchange communication system]this is the old PECS book and old symbols-

and this is the new one which SALT made-

makaton sign language,as well as a few BSL signs for swearing as makaton doesnt have any, apart from refering to people as a toilet [which is saying theyre full of something].:pac:

text to speech programs-unfortunately as a linux only user its very difficult to find a good communication/text to speech program, the best one have ever used was on windows-JTalk,but with each new windows version it got harder to configure the old microsoft [.NET?] framework it ran on,and it hasnt worked since vista.
-am using kmouth,as it works on GNOME,the command line TTS; espeak isnt very useful when am sensory overloaded or have had a seizure, just need a straight forward easy TTS.

am living in a residential centre and we sometimes get to try out various *cough* overpriced and unaffordable *cough* speech devices by dynavox and the like, and one of the lads has just been bought a ipad and proloquo2go by his mum, there are some superb programs out [like proloquo2go] just a pity they price out many of us,and are locked to certain computers such as apple.
