Im looking to go to Tromso in Norway for a week to see the Northern Lights.
    Flying from Dublin.
Does anyone have any links to travel agents who can arrange this for me for a reasonable cost, flying from Dublin?

    Thanks.

Not sure if there's a travel agent in Ire that does Northern Lights trips, more likely out of UK.

    What about doing it yourself.
SAS fly Dublin to Oslo and connect to Tromso.

Flew 1 way last year was about 150 if I remember right.

Tromso airport is close to town and is connected by bus.

    Taxis are horrendously expensive.

When we traveled to see the northern lights. We rented a car in tromso and drove to Alta. It was amazing there. If I remember correctly the drive was about 2-3 hours and we stayed in a log cabin on the outskirts of the town, which we found when we got there. If car rental is an option for you, I would take it as most company charge crazy fees for trips to see the lights.

    Thanks for the info.
Think I might sort it myself.
    A log cabin sounds good.
Is it easy to arrange when you get there or should I book before I go.

We didn't have any accomadation booked. As you are driving along the roads you will see alot of signs for accomadation. We had no problems finding somewhere nice( and resonable) every night, all log cabins, although we were there in November, so if you are going in the summer it may be best to plan ahead. I tried to look up some of the places that we stayed and they weren't on the internet so if you don't mind, you can play it by ear.

If you are feeling like a bit of driving holiday, we also travelled to Hammerfest by car, really nice little town. You can go to the tourist office and get a certificate to say you have travelled to the last inhabited town before the artic(or something like that). Think it is a membership to the Polar bear society or something!
As said we were there in November so it was pretty badly planned by us as we were there when there was a really bad snow storm. Took us over 6 hours to Alta and when the snow cleared 2 on the way back. In Hammerfest the town shut down at 2.pm :(
Would love to visit again in the summer time.

I think i'll do what you suggest and just drive and find somewhere on the way.
I do that all the time in the US, but im a bit apprehensive as getting stuck with nowhere to sleep in the arctic might be scary :)
