Multi Language EReaders

I have a brother-in-law who is thinking about getting an EReader, but he wants one that can utilise different languages.

He said this, "I have read that if you buy an ereader here in italy, you can only download italian books not english, french, german... you should buy an english or american model if you want to read ebooks in english."

Anyone know how true this is and what EReader would handle Multi Languages or is it dependant on the language of the EBook?

Sounds ridiculous, don't see why not?

    That's what I thought.
So he could get EBooks in any language and the EReader would display them ok?

Was pointing him towards the Sony EReader as my wife has one.

He is in Italy, as you may have guessed.

All newer eReaders support international fonts. If you install CoolReader on the Kindle or Sony, you can get hyphenation dictionaries for pretty much any language.

Other than that, there is no limitation to load/read books in other languages, except your own language skills. ;)

Great. Thanks for the clarification Torqay.
Will pass on to my Italian brother-in-law. ;)
