    Hi there,

    I am trying to identify this object and was wondering if somebody can translate the text on the rear? It might point me in the right direction :)

    "за любовь и верность отечеству" = "For love and loyalty to the fatherland"

    A minute with google suggests the medal is a recent award specifically for the Cossacks. There's a Russian page on the award here, and your medal is just past half way down:
