just after booking flights to malaga in july and we're looking for a nice, quiet place to go to and have been told that nerja is supposed to be a nice place. if anyone has been there can you please tell me if you'd recommend it and any tips or things to do around the place. and last question, is there a beach in the village or within walking distance of it??
    thanks!

Hi I went to nerja for a day trip from Malaga, it was a very quiet little town but very nice. The caves I think are the main attraction and were very interesting. I think they offer music shows inside the caves too which are amazing.

Its lovely down there and very very quiet. The only attraction is the Nerja Caves so you may want to plan a few day trips.

I would also recommend Calahonda its right smack bang in the middle of Marbella and Fuengirola. It is a very quiet location mainly families and expats. It has a lot of restaurants, cafes and bars.

Nice place, quiet mostly. More Spanish than south of Malaga. Decent food and drink to be had. A family destination

Lovely spot, good food/ drink / weather and there's always Tutti Fruiti plaza if you fancy a few Jager-bombs!

Would recommend the Hotel Balcon Europa if you're looking for a hotel. Right on the beach if you go out the back door and in the centre of the town if you go out the front door.

Nerja's nice, stayed in a very cheap but recently renovated family-run pensión called Hostal Abril. It's a little walk up towards the main road in and out of town.

Nerja has a small cove, but not a 'beach'. It's a very popular destination during summer among Spaniards. But it also has good accessibility to the beautiful 'white towns' of the sierra.

Málaga is a great city in itself and its reputation, I feel, is sadly overshadowed by its ugly resortsville monstrosities west towards Algecieras. I proposed during a trip to Málaga (actually in Granada at the time) and we returned to Málaga for honeymoon and had a wonderful time.

Actually, I would also suggest Tarifa (2 hours by bus away, and where we spent New Year's Eve on honeymoon) and only 35 minutes ferry ride from Morocco!

Get the train from the airport to Maria Zambrano , it's 3 stops from the Airport in the direction of Malaga city, then exit Maria Zambrano and the building next door is Estacion de Autobuses de Malaga (Malaga Bus Depot), from there get the bus to Nerja, takes about an hour and a half.

    Here's the bus website:

I've used them before and no issues, well, almost none. I missed a connection and needed a taxi to get me to ANother station, and then booked my ticket in the taxi so my reservation was almost last-minute.
The driver only needed to look through a new/updated list, but all was well when he did.

    Thanks,
