How could it possibly know the mileage of the car?

You enter the mileage thats on the car now and it will then show up any differences with previous recorded mileages(NCT etc)

Sorry, i thought you gave the reg and it told you mileage from previous repairs/NTC/ and other means.?

Right, so could that still be the case that when i enter the mileage that it still could come back with no info?

If its an import, it will have lots of mileage info recorded against it in most cases. Irish cars have little mileage details officially recorded. If its not an import, go to town on the history, look for service receipts, not just stamps, chase up the info with garages to verify that the car had been with them, NCT report sheets, whatever you can to verify the mileage.
