Went out in a four ball today at Tulfarris. Stopped after the 9th to grab a coffee and let the group behind play through. We teed off an leaving the tee box the next three ball was approaching and I said hello but they all blanked me. After playing the par 3 11th and Teeing off on 12 the three ball started shouting at us over slow play. We explained we were keeping up with the group ahead they didn't seem to care. After Teeing off on 14 they again started shouting saying we were taking the piss though we were still keeping up with play. On finishing and while putting our clubs in the car one of the group shouted at us again askin did we enjoy our picnic on 9 then called us wank2ers and said he had better things to do than take 5 hours for a round.

    Was absolutely shocked tbh

The way the lads went on was very bad form.

    But.

I think you will get a mixed response on here for what went on at ten. It does not sound like you had a gap to get back into the course there ?

Tbh we had all teed off and were putting our drivers away as they approached us. We had let the other group play through. We would have had no issue with them playing through either if they had asked or even spoken to us with some manners or common courtesy. Where I am a member we have a cafe at the 9th where people can grab a drink and thats all we did.

Sorry Pat but I think taking a coffee break after 9 holes is ridiculous. It sounds like you should have just let the second group through aswell considering they had caught up as your group had finished driving off.
You say you were keeping up with the group in front but if that was the case then why the you guys let the first group through. Im probably biased here because I detest slow play- I think it ruins the game.

Well why is there a coffee stop area? We boiled a kettle made a coffee to take away which takes max 5 mins. We were ready to tee off when the group behind approached so we said to them to tee off by the time
They had hit their second shots the next group were only approaching the green. So should we wait for them also? Maybe you think so but there was three more 4 balls behind. It's only a big deal if u make it one. If they had any manners they coul have played through.

You should've called the fcuker a wanker back and told him if he has better things to do then go do it and stop running round the golf course with a scoul on his face. Some guys run around the golf course looking for reasons to give out, its the way they are and there's no changing them, so just ignore them and stand your ground if they challenge u. If they are members you should report them.

    Nonsense Redzah.

I don't expect anyone to sprint around a gold course.

But golf is one of those unfortunate circumstances in life when everyone's speed is controlled by the slowest people.

I thoroughly doubt anyone notices a 5 hr round if they're constantly moving. You do though notice s 5 hr round when, no matter what you do, no matter how relaxed you get, you're waiting for each and every shot.

At which point you're going to look around for what's causing the problem. Whether the coffee crew caused the problem or not, they certainly didn't help it.

Remember this, you who likes to take your time, you are also taking my time. Be fair.

'Im probably biased here because I detest slow play- I think it ruins the game.'

Totally agree that slow play is detestable.
    But the solution is simple.
When a 3 or 4 ball group is 'slow' it's usually down to one or worse still 2 players in that group. The whole group then plays 'slowly', and in turn 'slows' those behind them.
If you have a slow player in your group, explain to him that he needs to move along a bit faster. If he declines to do so, help him by moving his cart or clubs for him., marking his ball, and otherwise making it clear to him that slow play is unacceptable.
Also consider suggesting, quietly at first, that his name mightn't appear in that particular 4 ball again.
Saying nothing, and talking about it out of his hearing is not going to help anyone.
It can be done politely and sensibly. Most 'slow' players don't realise that they are holding others up, and will take note of it if they're told.

    :D- you're kidding right??

Unless the other three members of the group are Megan Fox, Jessica Alba and Eva Mendes, I'm pretty sure my reaction to the above would be: "Is that right? Well maybe go f*ck yourself then..."

I've seen plenty of people sprint around the golf course, literally at jogging pace towards their ball and hit it immediately when they get there. If these people then get held up they need to realise its because they are playing exceptionally fast and stop whinging. Slow play is not a huge problem in general, don't know why so many of u are saying its killing the game. Poor golf causes slow play, if people hit less shots then they would play quicker. Also players can have a chat for 2 mins with their playing partners if they are waiting as after all golf is a socialable game. Their are of course some who are exceptionally slow but this is not the norm and too many of u are quick to give out and whinge if u have to wait over a shot or two, chill and enjoy it, its better than being in work.

Wobbler, i like to take my time, i'm not a slow player but i like to enjoy my round without being in a rush. If that means that u are rushing to ur ball and having to wait a min or two then i don't give a sh*t. It might give ur heartbeat a chance to slow down. Best advice for golfers like u is go out at the crack of dawn so u can run around the golf course all u want whinge free

    Hi Pat,
I reckoned after reading your first post I wouldnt of been pleased by your actions on the course but the abuse you had to listen to was defintely uncalled for.
Then I read the second post and I feel that the group behind were ssssooooo out of order, if you came on here to find agreement for the haressment you received you really should make sure you post all the info, I know I get told all the time.:o

You did all that was asked of you, you followed the rule"your place is just behind the group in front not in front of the group behind"
