Golf Delusion

Anyone read this book? It has opened my eyes to the fact that my swing is sh1te so will be trying my best his year to rectify it.

Book is authored by the owners of the Knightsbrook Golf School in the UK and illustrates that 9 out of 10 amateur gofers have the same basic swing fault - the main problem is rolling of the wrists and this manifests itself before the swing even reaches hip height on the backswing. I recorded myself and found out that I was clearly one of the 90%.

Anyway I recommend the book and have a goal to make this seemingly simple fix over the coming months.

This is one of the worst golf books out there.

Feels like a scam and had me thinking of trying to return and get my money back. The Swing Factory from the same guys was a decent book and would still recommend and so thought the The Golf Delusion would be interesting.
Problems: it does not answer the question its title asks! It does go through a few of what the authors consider the common mistakes that ruin golf swings - but doesnt explain why they make them. The instruction chapters that are in it, while good, are very disjointed, and do not add to The Swing Factory which presents the same stuff better.

But the elements that leaves a nasty taste and spoils whatever good is in the instruction are the following:it reads like an add for their schoo; it contains unending hero worship of and fawning for "Mr. King", the writers former boss; celebrity name dropping. These elements pervade the book making it a really unpleasant read.

Skip it and try something else.

I have read most (embarrasingly close to all) the key golf instruction books. The Golf Delusion was one of the worst I have come across that purported to be adding something new to understanding the golf swing. A swindle to be actively boycotted.

I agree with many of your points here and there is indeed a lot of school back slapping and general stories that almost amount to simply advertising.

However I got what I needed from the instruction portions, but only because I made some simple recordings of my own swing, allowing me to see the main mistakes immediately. It's actually really enlightening to see the 'correct' swing compared to your own. To be honest you would probably see the same by using one of those apps that allows you to directly map your swing against that of the top pros
