We all remember that one shot.
The one that either turned a matchplay game in your favor or when you got a hole in one. For me the best shot I hit was a 4 iron through a gap in trees about the size of a tea towel 200 yards to 10 foot of the pin to win a matchplay.

2 shots stick out for me, both we well executed but involved plenty of luck and i felt poxed at the time;

1. 100 foot putt from the light rough off the back of the green on the 18th in strandhill in co.sligo. It was the irish junior foursomes semi final and we needed to get down in two to half the hole and go down the 19th. Went straight into the hole and went on to take the irish title back to castletroy in the final.

2. Hole in one on the 14th (signiture hole) in doonbeg. It was the club championship and I was 3 behind my playing partner who was leading. I had 1 he had 4 and we were all square teeing off on 15. 4 pars later and I took it by one. He was sick but he enjoyed all the free champagne after provided by the club.

Junior Cup was held at South County in 2009 I think. Was my last year playing, and qualified for the match play on day 2. Morning match was a tough one against a kid off 4 handicap on the day.

Playing the 15th par 5, and flew a drive over the first river. Went for it in two, and the 18 degree hybrid I hit was the best shot I've ever played. Flag was back left, tight to the water. I was of course aiming at the centre of the green but just released it a fraction, pitched and rolled up the green, just missed the cup and ended up 6 feet past.

He made birdie, and I holed the putt to win the hole with eagle. Went on to win on 20th.

On a corporate day with my boss at the time & his boss, hit what looked like a bad hook off the Tee, so with very heavy rough all the way down the left, I was advised by my 2 partners to hit a provisional which I did, and predictably that was a semi-slice into the right hand rough. So off we go up the fairway, I head left in the vain hope of finding my first ball only to realise that the dogleg was quite a bit sharper than it looked from the Tee, and the countours had brought my first ball right back into the fairway, actually my boss spotted it while I was knee deep in the long grass!
Anyway, emboldened by this good fortune I decided to go for the green in 2, I took out my 3wood and lined up the right edge of the green to avoid the water on the left. It went like a rocket, straight and true, as clean a strike as I have ever hit, one bounce on the edge of the green and nestled in the fringe. We were the last group so everyone was now out on the balcony watching, I walked the 200 odd yards to the green chest out and feeling like a Ryder Cup player. I chipped to within 3 ft and holed out for a birdie (eagle with my handicap) to a roar of applause from my colleagues watching on, especially pleasing as I was with the big boss. When we walked up to the bar I discovered that I had won, by one shot and 15 years later I still have the cheap plastic trophy in my bookcase to remind my that fortune sometimes really does favour the brave

Hit a 5 iron last month from 187 to within a foot for the tap in birdie, made me feel pretty good
