See if you can watch this minecraft video:

    http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1071396-wave-generator/page__pid__13219945#entry13219945

If not then don't forget to thank Sean Sherlock and others like him.

    Gargo.

PS: actually it's just some filter at work blocking it but still it's people like Sherlock that got the filter setup in first place :S

I'd say that's just a run of the mill Content ID hit. Evidently EMI's reaction to it was to block the video entirely.

Quick question on the Copyright bill. Isn't it the owner of the copyrighted piece who can apply for the piece to be blocked. E.G EMI in the case above. If you were to make for example a Minecraft commentary (No Copyrighjted music) would it have to be Mojang who propose the block to Irish courts.

I think it's the rights holder yes, but I'm not sure a video made of their IP in action (ie the game) would be considered Mojang's property any more so than a photo of someone using Excel would be Microsoft's property.

Moot point, since this was most likely just a normal YouTube takedown.

MC T&C's state that editing the code, making plugins, videos etc is completely fine to do. It won't break any law. Problem in hand is that he obviously had some music within his video that was claimed by EMI. They've been doing this for a few years now. I've had 2 videos removed because of claims by EMI.

Nothing to do with **** Sherlock. Carry on.

Yea it's been around a while now, hence the PS: part of my post.

It's a filter along the lines of stuff that will start to show up when EMI and other media companies start to bring claims to the irish courts about infringements and looking for website blocks/filtering to begin.

But to keep this still MC related.... I like to mine and stuff but i'm a crappy builder :D

    Gargo.
