how to get off security nuts

    got a flat with my passico the security nut can`t be got off anybody got any ideas

    Not being smart but are you using the adapter that usually in the boot?

    If the special socket does not move the nut you need to use a hammer & chisel to open the nut .

    keep the hair on lad was not being rude at all. very greatful for any help. funny the way two people can read the same thing and get some thing completely from it. anyway thanks for all suggetions so far

    Hit the stud a few hard punches with a flat punch to shock it...then try to
    remove it again...:)
    If the stud key breaks...tap in the nearest size smaller socket that is thight on the stud and try to remove...after that fails weld on a socket if you can get in there and try to remove..after that trade it in..:D

    I would recommend the above, a smaller socket hammered into place can grip and remove it. Are you sure the dealership don't have a universal key? I lost mine it was ford, one place told me it woukd be a hammer and chisel (id never recommend that) job, but another ford had a universal key!

    I would spray a little wd40 too, sometimes they jam in place with excessive grime etc.

    Jack up the car and see if you can see the cause of the flat tyre (nail\screw) then just remove nail\screw and repair using a rubber strips repair kit. Pump up tyre with portable compressor and away you go.

    That's only useful as a temporary repair. And what about when the OP needs a new tyre?

    Most garages will have the armour for removing the stud. May have to have it recovered though.

    I thought it was 50 for all wheels? 50 per wheel is kinda pricy,

    They should price it as a whole, it's not like your only going to have one lock nut!

    ok lads the nuts are off and the winner is , a few shot with a cold cheisel , then get a slightly smaller socket and hammer it on . then off come the nuts . i filled up a small compressor with air pumped up the wheel got the car home .the socket i use was a spark plug socket.thanks loads for all the help.this is a great thread
