Well worth it, I'll be there pretending to be a wannabee. But really meeting my old friends.

By coincidence I will be there although not expected.

I've been to it once and found it alright, there's a few talks and all the flight schools have stands where you can get answers but there's nothing you can't get with a bit of research.

I don't know how up to speed you are but watch out for any bull****ting if you do go. I came across one american guy telling a bunch of eager lads that he could guarantee them a job in an airline after training, I doubt very much he'd put that in writing..

Saying that it was just the one and the rest were straight up and very helpful, plus you'll get a supply of pens to last you a year :)

Yes watch out. I remember being out on the smoking balcony on a previous exhibition. I don't smoke but I met a PTC student who was convinced he was on an integrated course. I tried to correct him but it was useless.

    So bring your critical facilities.

If you meet me, run away fast. I'll be really negative.:D

It's very sad but this is the exact same experience I had at one of these a few years ago. A PTC posterboy bragging about how he was on the only Integrated course in Ireland, the only school that Ryanair and Aer Lingus directly recruited from and how had been told by some guy called "Mike" (aparantly the Boss) that he had been recommended to the training dept of said airlines above and he was gauranteed the right seat without so much as an interview.
Sad thing was I didn't have it in me unfortunately to pull the rug from under his feet.

Be very wary at this event. It's nothing more than an event of oppurtunistic flying school suits to sell dreams to people with no financial sense and rip them off in the process.

Do your homework, and don't let the answers you want to hear override any gut instincts because they prey on people by giving them the answers and stories they want to hear, not the facts.

For the record they are not all liars but be prepared.

Some of the airlines say what they have to say to avoid tribunals too....be aware of that!

And whatever PTC say is lies!:D

Did anyone go to this this weekend? I couldn't make it up to Dublin, so if anyone picked up any interesting info feel free to share it!

I went. I'm already in training so I was focused on airline job situations.

Aer Lingus cleverly disguised the fact that they were actually saying nothing at all. Cadetship in 2013 and the DE in 2014 or maybe 2013...or maybe 2015 but not really, but maybe.....

Aer Arann seemed fairly nice down to earth guys and I enjoyed my chat with them. Got a lot of really practical realistic info from them. They said they recognise that young guys will fly there a year or 2 and move on and I thought that realism was refreshing.

    IALPA were pretty cool too.

I played dumb and spoke to PTC, just to see what volume of crap they had this year. The stink of bull**** overpowered me however....

Was good alright, some nice stands and loads of free goodie bags. i had a chat myself with Aer Arann CFI and he was very helpfull and informative.
I had a go at Ptc aptitude test for a craic, and then was forwarded onto their sales reps. They seem very confident and sound promising, but personally if i was forking out that sort of cash id probaby go with someone like oxford. very very expensive

So do you feel more positive about job prospects having spoken to a few people? Also did anyone have a chat with Private Sky? I was wondering why they would be at an exhibition for people who are in training/considering beginning training, as I've never seen a private jet operator who were looking for 200hr MEIR holders to employ!

I feel slightly more confident yes. It's nice to know there are jobs out there. I was told that it looked like there would be positions through the rest of the year and so I'm happy with that.
Overall I didnt learn anything I didnt already know/expect. Aer Lingus are still using their odd recruitment policy, Aer Arran are a nice friendly bunch, IALPA hate Ryanair and Cityjet are nowhere to be seen...

I was going to talk to Private Sky but when I got there at 1 o'clock(1300UTC;))
their stand was empty. There was a guy there later reading a paper but I think he had just found a nice chair and table and was reading the paper....
