hi, can anyone tell me if any classic insurance company will insure without you having to have a modern car on cover as your daily driver?

If it's a daily driver you will need regular ins.

First Ireland will do up to 10K annual mileage limit on a classic which is a main vehicle. Expect the premium to be just as high as a standard motor policy though.

Yep. I have my 911 with First Ireland. I pay €450 for up to 6000 miles, and only an extra €100 to go to 10,000. Their policy was even cheaper than Axa and a few others despite being my main car and axa being my second. Axa wanted over 1k for it as my main car. Give Derbhla a call she's really nice to deal with

well i dont have a main car, just a classic i have bought recently and im hopeing to insure it. i would not be doing anything like 10,000 miles a year, closer to 5,000 probably.

Hi oceanman are you in a classic car club if not join one you can get better deals done through a club,I drive a 1977 2.1 social & domestic use €240 fully comp iam with FBD and i do less then 10,000 a year, thats through my club would have cost me €390 doing it myself.look into a club near you not expensive to join anywhere between €25/€50 per year.

thanks for that, sounds a very good price but did FBD ask if that was your only car?
i must look into joining a classic car club, any good ones in the dublin kildare area, and can anyone just join up or do you have to know a member ect?

yes they did ask about second car but iam a named driver on the mothers car which i drive maybe once a year if that, still got a good deal through club and no you don"t have to know someone in a club to join most clubs are always on the lookout for new members their are quite a few in dublin and surrounding counties, classiccarclubs.ie will give a list of clubs, you don"t have to join a club that is for the make of car you buy,but those type of clubs do have a wealth of knowledge on the car you do buy like parts, mechanical, etc.

There are some pix in the "post a pic of your classic car" thread, I was thinking of starting a thread for it. Should I?
