With the success of soap opera Revenge many nets are keen to copycat...in fact copycat seems to be the defacto default this year, though i'm sure every year is the same.

Numerous soap opera pilots in the works, another trend is the fantasy/romance genre, a la Once upon A Time.....there again we have several copycats such as Beauty & The Beast + The Selection. Sci-Fi/supernatural/genre shows seem to be more popular this season also, looking over the pilots nothing really "pops" tbh.

What are you hoping to see picked up this year?

Hmm, from reading through that list there are actually quite a few I narrowed down to that at least sound interesting but of all of them the ones that stood out the most were Prairie Dogs which hopefully might have a White Collar vibe to it and Untitled Kevin Williamson serial killer drama which has Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy so should be all kinds of awesome.

    Prairie Dogs
Logline: Neil, an uncool cubicle worker (“prairie dog”) at one of the coolest companies in the world, is the victim of identity theft. When he discovers the thief has created a much more fulfilling, kick ass life with his identity than he ever has, he engages the charismatic conman to help him change his life.

Untitled Kevin Williamson serial killer drama
Logline: A new thriller about an ex-FBI agent, Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon), who leads the search to catch a diabolical serial killer, Joe Carroll (James Purefoy), who has created a cult of serial killers.

So whats the deal with all the stuff on that list? Are they all going to have pilots made or is it listing shows that have simply made a pitch?

    Source TV Line

Connie Britton has lined up her next TV gig — and it truly is something to sing about.
The Friday Night Lights and American Horror Story alumna — who was offered everything under the sun this pilot season — has been cast in Nashville, an ABC pilot described as a family soap set against the backdrop of the Nashville music scene, and revolving around one star at her peak and another on the rise (Heroes‘ Hayden Panettiere). Britton will play the former, Rayna — and yes, she will be singing.
As previously reported, Without a Trace‘s Eric Close will play the husband of Britton’s character. The cast also includes Powers Boothe and Jonathan Jackson.
Renowned documentarian R.J. Cutler (The War Room, The September Issue) is directing the Nashville pilot, from a script by Callie Khouri (Thelma & Louise).

    Country Strong tv series

    http://www.digitalspy.ie/ustv/news/a371610/lights-out-star-holt-mccallany-joins-cbs-pilot-golden-boy.html

Holt McCallany will star in CBS drama pilot Golden Boy.
The project will focus on Walter Clark, a young cop who rises from officer to detective and ultimately becomes police commissioner.
McCallany - who starred in FX's 2011 drama Lights Out - will play Detective Diaco, a homicide cop who is proud of his 'man about town' status and connections, Deadline reports.
British actor Theo James has been cast in
the lead role of Clark. Chi McBride (Human Target) will also appear in Golden Boy as Clark's partner Owen. Chuck and NYPD Blue scribe Nicholas Wootton wrote the pilot script.
Executive producing is Greg Berlanti, whose previous credits include Dawson's Creek, Everwood, Dirty Sexy Money, Eli Stone and Brothers & Sisters.

    http://www.digitalspy.ie/ustv/news/a371617/damages-star-tate-donovan-joins-nbcs-notorious.html

Tate Donovan has joined NBC drama pilot Notorious.
The project, from writer Liz Heldens (Friday Night Lights), follows a female detective who was raised by a wealthy heiress.
When the heiress dies in mysterious circumstances, the detective goes undercover in her old family to investigate.
Former Damages star Donovan will play the "smart and cold" eldest child of powerful tycoon Robert Lawson (Victor Garber), according to Deadline.
In addition, Notorious will star FlashForward actor Neil Jackson as another member of the Lawson family, described as a "handsome, sexy and smart bad boy".
Katherine LaNasa (Big Love) will also appear in the pilot, which will be produced by Alphas execs Gail Berman, Lloyd Braun and Gene Stein.

    http://www.digitalspy.ie/ustv/news/a369838/the-matrix-carrie-anne-moss-joins-dennis-quaid-cbs-pilot.html

Carrie-Anne Moss has signed up for a role in a CBS pilot.
The drama, which has been penned by Goodfellas writer Nicholas Pileggi, is based on the true story of the clash between Las Vegas sheriff Ralph Lamb and Chicago mob fixer Johnny Savino.
Moss has now signed up to play assistant district attorney Katherine O'Connell in the project, Deadline reports.
Katherine is the daughter of a local rancher who grew up as a neighbour to the Lambs.
Moss is possibly best known for her role as Trinity in The Matrix, but she has also had roles in television shows such as Models Inc. and Chuck.
Dennis Quaid has already signed up to play Lamb in the CBS drama, while The Shield's Michael Chiklis has joined the cast as Savino. The project will also star The O.C.'s Taylor Handley as Lamb's son.

(These 3 sound quite good to me)

Seems Arrow and Carrie diaries for CW are a lock, surprisingly The Selection seems to be not getting picked up, lots more info in the article for loads of pilots and test screenings etc.

Things that look like they could be good would be:

    Comedy
Awesometown (ABC) - due to the execs involved and being on ABC it could be very similar to Happy Endings and that can only be a good thing.

Down To Earth (ABC) - by the sounds of things it could be the next 3rd Rock From the Sun

Prairie Dogs (ABC) - Premise sounds great and I have a lot of faith in the cast and the execs.

Red Van Man (ABC) - J.K. Simmons is in it. Worth a look for that alone.

    Friend Me (CBS) - McLovin!

El Jefe (FOX) - Party Down's Ryan Hansen in the leading role and the premise sounds great. I can also see it pairing up really well with Raising Hope.

The Goodwin Games (FOX) - Sounds fresh and original and comes from the people who brought us How I Met Your Mother, which at one time was fresh and original, but unfortunately has just dragged on too long.

Like Father... (FOX) - seems like a similar premise to Undeclared, but that was awesome, so bring it on.

Animal Kingdom (NBC) - Tyler Labine who seems to be unfortunate in finding success when it comes to being in TV shows that last more than 1-2 seasons, despite being awesome in everything is in this. Maybe he'll be lucky this time. On the executive team are the Russo's who brought us the likes of Community, Arrested Development and Happy Endings to name but a few. That combination alone makes me excited about this one.

Downwardly Mobile (NBC) - John Goodman is in it. 'Nuff said.

Go On (NBC) - I've always liked Matthew Perry. Would be great to see him succeed in a show post Friends. And where better to see that happen than on the network that was home to Friends.

    Drama
Beauty & The Beast (ABC) - Had you asked me a year ago if I'd back a fantast series of this sort, I would've said absolutely not, it'll never work, but low and behold Once Upon a Time was awesome and I quite like the cast of this one, not to mention I love Beauty & The Beast.

Last Resort (ABC) - Lost 2.0 perhaps? They've been trying to do something as good as it for years - this one might actually come close.

Untitled Kevin Williamson Project (FOX) - They had me at Cult of Serial Killers. Throw a sweet cast in the mix and I'm more than sold. For the record I think they should actually call it Untitled Kevin Williamson Project.

Beautiful People (NBC) - Anything set in the future is worth a shot.

Mockingbird Lane (NBC) - Loved The Munsters, so it will be interesting to see if they can make it work as a drama rather than a sitcom.

Revolution (NBC) - There has probably been more buzz surrounding this than any other potential shows, mainly due to its creative show. I can see this being a shoe in for pickup and I wonder if it might not put NBC back on the map.

Cult (The CW) - Despite having very little faith in CW shows considering the only watchable shows they have are Supernatural and One Tree Hill (which both actually started when the network was still WB) the premise of this sounds like it would be interesting and when you throw Alona Tal and Robert Knepper amongst the cast, well people may actually start tuning in to The CW
