young tree

    I found a young tree(2inch diam) tied to a stake with a 4 inch rubber
    band.the bark has over grown this rubber and the bark is rough/knotty
    at this point.The tree is healthy.Should i cut out this rubber band or leave it.

    I would cut and remove the band but avoid cutting the tree.
