how about sowing a westerwolds grass and differ grazing it.

suppose to be a very aggrasive grower for short term leys and would be cheap to establish.
if you closed it in august it would have a nice bank of grass there for you.
your biggest challange would be keeping it grazed tight enough from sowing to closing.

going to do somthing simular here shorthly with our calving paddock that gets abused yearly.

its a block on its own so its suits fine to drive the weanlings there 1 dec and out again15/20 of feb but dont want to be driving cattle there every so often for grazing.what do you mean by "differ"grazing

sorry my spellings was way off... i ment deferred grazing
this where you close the ground up very early and allow a good bank of grass to build up. you could just let them loose on teh entire area but you could strip graze it and get much better utilisation.
have a read off of fwi http://www.fwi.co.uk/Articles/04/11/2011/129884/Deferred-grazing-could-reduce-winter-feed-costs.htm
