There's a small piece of black fabric in two Bowens kits I have (both acquired 2nd hand) its like a cone with the top cut off and I've no idea what it's for. Anyone here with any ideas? It doesn't seem to fit over or inside the wide angle reflectors and I can't find it on the Bowens site. Stumped. About 6 inches in diameter and about the same in height.

Dont have a camera handy to take a snap right now!!!!!

Could it be a snoot for directing hard light like a spot light?

something off the back of the softboxes?

spare pants for when lamp blows during a shoot? :D:D:D:D:D

Does it have velcro around the edges ?
Almost definitely (without seeing it) to light-seal the back of a softbox.

Thanks for the suggestions guys it's definitely not off the soft box coz there's already a square of Velcro'ed fabric for that with a hole cut out, use it all the time.

@zerohamster, yeah thought it might be a snoot, but fabric? Can't find a way to attach it to anything. Will upload a few pics tomorrow. Just confused as there's one of these things in each kit, so they're obviously for something.

OK, I've finally managed to take two pictures of this yoke. Here they are: any ideas?

Looks like some sort of baffle to put inside a wide angle reflector - possibly? But black fabric?

Never used studio lighting, nor the type you're specifically talking about, but that looks like a snoot to me, more than anything else.

Does it hold it's shape when it's flat? Could be also some kind of half-hearted attempt to include a barn door?

Nope, doesn't hold its shape, a piece of floppy fabric, doesn't look like it'd stand up to much heat either. Intrigued.
