I am waiting to have a Colostomy and I am looking for some information, help and advice. What is life like with a Colostomy? What do i need to know about recovering from the op and the first few weeks? What do you wish you had been told but were not!! So any help or words of advice would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hi Tizer-
in case you don't get replies from people with personal experience, here's my advice.
Have you met with the Clinical Nurse Specialist in the hospital where you will have your surgery? If not,do.

There is usually a support group, people who've had/have a stoma, who are very happy to go through their experience with prospective new ostomists.
Other than that I would advise you that there are lots of appliances available- different ones to suit individual needs of clients-trial and error as to what you'll prefer.

    Best of luck.
