Hmmmm, if it's a 4 door, it might be lined up for a job. Similar happened to me with a 325i. Was there an alarm on in your house?

I'll keep an eye out......it's an awful feeling that some scrot has entered your home.

4 door yeah. No alarm very clean job on doo and were wearing gloves. Fingerprint guy was able to show me the glove patterns on door and security light.

    What happened to yours Bearcat?

Same thing, our alarm kept going off so we switched it off thinking it was at fault....it was the sneaky scum that we're bouncing a tennis ball off one of the windows. Couple of hours later they simply let them selves in and helped themselves to my black 4 door 325i. It was used in a bank job and they wrecked it. Prob with the black bm's like yours and mine is that they are low key, can be hidden in an apt block without causing too much notice, have 4 doors and are quick. They like the autos too...one less thing to do on the job.

Sorry to be a half empty glass merchant but it sounds like a pro job.:(

Sure there has been nothing in the glass since 7am when I realised the car was targeted. Options:

    A. Taken for a job, burnt out
    B. Stripped for parts
    C. Was on the ferry this morning

At least with a job ill have less hassle and a faster turn around with tax refund and insurance.

Renewed the tax last week from today for a year €1050 but tax office said I can get all that back with cert of destruction or letter from insurance if not recovered.

    Sorry to hear op,
If fitzgeme's stolen 335 is anything to go by, you'll have a battle with the gardai and the insurance company...
    Good luck

Good spec. Parts will probably be worth a few quid.

Sorry to hear but you're better off not seeing it again.

Unfort, when an order goes out from the boss of these low life rats to pinch a certain model, they'll get their marque "by hook or by crook" (sorry:rolleyes:).

Look on the bright side, the market is flooded with good value cars......just make sure you get a decent insurance settlement......always a silver lining out there.

Sorry to hear it OP, I hate reading threads like these. I'll keep an eye out, although at this stage it'd almost be better to be rid of it altogether.

What happened with fitzgeme? Can you point me in the direction of a thread?

    Cheers

I thought so but sensor was just dislodged and turned backwards. Managed to snap back in and reposition.

They came over neighbours wall as ours is not easy to get over but theirs is real low. Found footprints by our wall in ash from house fire (we pile it up there).

Yeah a found it after, not happy reading. I think given the options assuming its never coming back its the best one. The not knowing is ****e at least there is closure never knowing ever would be bad, was down at the garda last night filling out insurance forms. I expect nothing from them unless it falls into their lap which is pretty much what he said. "If it turns up on ANPR or sold etc.".

The burnt out pics were not nice to look at though.

Found in Naas today by Garda! No word on condition yet but was used in attempted robbery and abandoned and isn't burnt out, not sure if there was a chase yet and waiting to hear back.

    Any update OP?

OK their definition of mint and mine isn't identical...

    Mostly minor things I think...
    Chip in front left wing
    Dent in front right wing
Crack in front bumper like they tapped a wall but may need replacement
    Plates changed
Handle in boot to lift floor came apart may be able to snap back together
Wire under glove box with what looks like a sensor hanging down
    Missing front ashtray
    Missing 2 cigarette USB cables
Tiny scratch on front right alloy prob buff ou
    List may grow

    Now the bad bits:
Rear door windows were spray painted with a power black paint almost a pro job basically none on trim
One rear electric window button is dead but motor tries from driver controller however the paint has them jammed shut.
Engine not sounding the may west mild ticking kinda noise and although gone now kinda like the belts were squeaking and may be in my head but didn't think it was pulling as well as it was.
    Breaks are not as sharp

On plus side ash trays were used not the seats and inside is OK apart from a fair amount of disinfectant used that a valet will sort out.
    Suspenstion seems OK too.

    Well on a rough quote:
    Locks changed - 1000
    Front bumper replacement - 1300
    Front wing replacement - 5-600

And that is to start with.

Spray painted windows?? Must be for a bank job...

Get a full check and quote for fix and pass that on to the insurance, don't just accept a little dent and live with it as every time you go near the car again- that's all you'll see!!

I take it you have to take the car back and can't reject it? I don't think I'd be happy having it back.

I wouldn't either. I can imagine the discussion trying to sell/trade-in:
"Ever been in an accident or had any bodywork done?" "Probably, there were some dents after the bank heist it was used for"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,523 ✭✭✭optiplexgx270

Wasnt damaged "during" the robbery, just while they had it.

Yep, it got a bumper and a wing, here are pics of the damage, as you can see it was nothing major at all :)

Off topic but what is the logic of spray painting back windows
is it to hide blokes carrying weapons?
