Right, I need a new laptop. I have a netbook at the moment and it is seriously painful to use. It's grand for casual use but that's it. I've looked into Lenovo and they seem decently priced and good specs. Does anyone have experience with them? Are they reliable? http://www.dabs.ie/products/lenovo-ideapad-b570-core-i5-2430m-6gb-750gb-dvdrw-15-6-w7hp-7VMW.html?refs=54590000-431420000-56660000-54950000&fb=600&src=3
This is the model I plan on buying? Anyone have this, do you like it or should I steer clear?
Don't have any experience with them, but from reading around here they seem to be the favoured brand with asus. they seem to have good build quality. That laptop looks good enough, maybe a bit expensive though try komplett or saveonlaptops.co.uk. It has a massive hard drive and loads of ram but only integrated graphics so you won't be able to do any gaming but will be perfect for everyday/family use..

I got my laptop, a Lenovo 3000 N500 about two years ago from Dabs. I only had a problem when the keyboard went and after ten minutes on their support line I was shipped out a replacement keyboard which arrived in two days. I was able to make the switch myself easily and I was relieved that I didn't have to get it sent away. I was very impressed with Lenovo's service, and when the time comes I'll get another Lenovo.

However, the warranty was activated on the machine a few months before I purchased it. I was lucky, because by the time I called Lenovo there was less than a week left on the warranty! I never found out whether that was Dabs or Lenovo's fault.

I don't have the machine the OP quoted, but an i5 with 6 GB RAM looks good for about €600.

Great replies guys, I'll definitely go with Lenovo. Their support seems great which is always a bonus. I'll check out those other sites too. Thanks a lot!

The big problem with Lenovo is when your laptop needs to go back for repairs .Your are dealing with Medion who handle all the support for Aldi .I am three weeks without a laptop ,and still no end in sight .These guys make Ibood and Pixmania look good .

    Lenovo -
I had a bad DVD ROM a week ago. Phoned helpline and the answered in two rings / no wait. Part arrived two days later. Sorted.

Also they have a drop off point in Mullhudard dont they?

Call centre is in eastern Europe BUT I dont care who answers the phone, as long as they answer it.

Never said they were ,but they use Medion for support .The reason I know that
is because I am looking at a letter re my laptop ,and its from Medion Electronics Limited .The letter is signed by the "Lenovo hotline" so go figure .I had an drive that went belly up from Aldi last year .I got the very same letter without "Lenovo Hotline" tagged on at the bottom .The support I received in both cases was shocking .Would never buy fro Lenovo again the support is just too bad .Just my 2 p.

My laptop went to Germany .The war must be still on cause it took 8 days to get there.Support I get is from the UK .The 1890 number is hit and miss .So its easier just to ring the UK support center .
