Aren't pitbulls banned in Ireland? At the very least it would be an RB...

They are not banned. They are however on the Ristricted Breed list.

In answer to the OP contact the Kennel Club and get a list of registered breeders.

    Your point is?

They are not banned, yes they are on the Restricted Breed list.

Theres a facebook page, Eire Pitbulls, maybe try contacting them.
I dont think the IKC can help with breeders.

My point was - I was asking a question. Pitbulls are banned in the UK where I'm from and I wasn't sure if that was the case here. Why the snippy response?

You said it like its an issue because they are a restricted breed. At the very least they are a restricted breed, why did that have to be mentioned?

If you want to pick a fight over a Q, then go ahead. Frankly, I can't be bothered...

I hope the OP gets the info they were seeking.

Can I just ask that the op research the breed thoroughly, look at his living and family situation and make sure he's not adding to the droves of unwanted bullies in the rescue centers and pounds. Also why pups plural i'm suspicious?

that was gonna be my question. anyone wanting a few pitbull pups is either very experienced with the breed and would know where to go for good stock anyway or is plain mental!

no offence intended OP but they arent your average dog.

The American Pit Bull is not a recognised breed by the IKC I'm afraid :)

My 3 year old JRT female is having a ball with my 12 week old male rottie pup. I can just see my 2yr GSD male waiting in the wings for the pup to get bigger so he can play too.
Would it have to be a pitbull, i know nothing of that breed, just thinking in print.

My female dog gets along fine with other females, my dog isn't spayed either. They need to be socialised very well to get to that point. A lady I went to college with has a female pit bull who gets along fantasticly with her two female staffies and male pitbull. Shes a gorgeous gentle dog, Just said I'd throw that in as I love her to pieces :D As long as you introduce them early as you are they should get along fine. I think it also depends on the dog as an individual, If they are socialised properly together at a young age they should get along with each other & other female dogs. But to answer your actual question I'm not too sure there would be many breeders around as they seem to me to be a pretty rare breed here. I'm sure somebody on here has better links to breeders though

with most dogs this applies but pitbulls are a very different story. unless you know your bloodline's history well, you could end up with a lovely little pooch that suddenly gets 'switched on' at 2 years old just as easily as you could get a dog that never shows DA. you need to be very careful to be a responsible PBT owner.

I don't own pitbulls, never have. Just saying what i've seen with a friends 5 year old one

i know. im just pointing out that its a very different breed to most. but with all bull breeds accepting that DA may be a part of your dog is just something you have to live with. but then a lot of them are as soft as cotton wool with other dogs.

my staffie wouldnt say boo to another dog unless attacked but then she flips and its scarey to see the possibilities of what could be if she was in the wrong hands.

its just the breed, its in some of them.
