Im heading upto this, in my final year of electrical apprenticeship and will be heading off somewhere in December. How does this work? Do you bring cv's with you and give them to employers or do they just give you info.

I arrived at 11:05 thinking, "oh i better get there early to avoid the queues". Wrong !

I spent 15minutes waiting in the general queue until a guy shouting "Pre-paid tickets on your left" came around. I then moved up and waited 2.15hours to get inside. When i left around 14.15-ish the queue was snaked back to the gate and beyond. They were only letting in ticket holders and turning everyone else away. If you didnt have a ticket i imagine the waiting times could be up until 3hours or more !

When i got in it really wasnt worth it, well from my perspective anyway(chemical / Pharmaceutical). Again once you got inside you had to queue for the likes of visa specialists. So my advice to you is get there early, real early, 9.00 early.

It was interesting to see the diversity in the people in attendance. From middle aged builders to graduates to mothers with small kids.

I queued for 3 hours and was out in 30min, feeling a bit silly , one desk for an IT company and we had a nice chat but in the end she just asked me to apply via the website. Tbh id be surprised. If there's anything there that can't be done online,I reckon it's more use for those in construction that wouldn't know where to start when it comes to immigrating

yep would have lost the plot if that happened , they should have spread it over a week.

Is there any point going or could I get the immigration info online ? My friends claustaphobic and there's no way she could handle the queue . There are no relevant employers for either of us anyway . Any word of them doing another week ?

    Anyone there today ?

I was. I tried yesterday but took one look at the que and ran for the hills.

I got out there at nine this morning and the que was already mad but luckily i got my ticket bought before they closed last night and got in without much of a wait.

It was well worth the effort. Three job offers because I applied for the working holiday visa to canada which bumped me to the top of their list.

I just heard on the radio that they've closed their doors to everyone bar pre paid ticket holders but if you're serious about making the move, bite the bullet and go to the cork one. If you have a trade you'll get a job in canada there, possibly New Zealand too. The Aussies seemed more interested in talking to engineers and architects and likes.

Basically they want the qualified people who can already get jobs here......I was told that social welfare are advertising this as a big deal trying to get some people off the live register....but how would those who have no qualification/experience get any of these jobs...its a joke.....

Genius idea..send our qualified people away and keep the untrained ...without offering them any help.

I heard there was a guy walking along the queue looking for painters/decorators, taking their cv, giving them his card and saying if he rang them on monday they had a job!
