Can I paint normal matt white on over mid sheen white paint?

I have a tin of Zinnser BIN primer/sealer,so should I paint this on over the mid sheen 1st??

Would it then be ok to paint the matt white on??

    Thanks.:)

yes the best way is to blank it out with under coat but give it a light sanding first to get a good key on it.

Would I get away with the Zinnser BIN primer and no sanding??

    The thoughts of sanding again.:(

dont use zinsser on whole walls, just give it good sand down and paint it with matt. zinsser wont allow walls to breath

    Its for a kitchen ceiling.
Can I ask why not to use it?

Its Zinnser BIN Primer, and it says on the tin that it can be applied to prime the likes of fresh plaster or applied over any other type of paint, prior to painting.

So just wondering what the story is with it??

    Thanks.

reasons why not to use it:
    1. it will increase drying time of ur matt emulsion
    2. just incase u will have a leak u wont be able to see it as zinnsser wont allow water to get through
3.zinnsser doeasnt allow walls to breath
    4. most important: no need to do it!:D

quick sand down anf of u go with ur matt

i painted matt white over mid-sheen white on a ceiling with no problems. Didn't sand at all.

sanding will provide better key (grip) to ur mat emulsion, also will remove any bits of surface.
