Bike Repair Shop Recommendation

    Hi all,

I have an old Ralleigh racer that I'm trying to do up (at minimum cost) for my brother. The thing was old and rusted when I got it but I now have the frame cleaned up and sprayed. I put on a new saddle, new handlebar grips, new brake pads, new cables and new chain. I got some second hand wheels off a friend which fit fine but here's the problem; The old rear wheel had 5 sprockets and the new one has 9. This makes it too wide for the rear dropout. I could put the old sprockets on it. I have shamano cassette tool which works for the new cassette but not for the old one, despite the old one being shamano too.

My question is, can anyone recommend a friendly bike repair shop in Dublin where I can get this problem sorted and get some advice and what else I need to do with the bike. I don't want to go to the newer/bigger shops because I have found them very impersonal and I don't want to throw too much money at the problem either.

    Any advice much appreciated.

    Cheers

I can't do links very well but do a search on "Sheldon Brown Cold Setting" in google. Follow it to the letter and please please please use the String Method further down on his page to make sure it's aligned.

Dara from BeeCycles is your only man. He's a regular on here and sorts a lot of us out when we're stuck . He's cheap, friendly and has nothing to do except sit around in his shop all day waiting for us to bring in our old bikes. (at least that's what I assume he does :D)

Just wanted to say a big thank you to "holyboy" in Bee Cycles. Absolutely great service. Highly recommended!

BTW Hungrycol: Thanks for the link but I don't think I'd undertake that myself, very interesting though. Cheers
