Video about the Central Otago Rail Trail in New Zealand, 150 km gravel trail on an old railway line. Used by about 14,000 cycle tourists a year. It generates 12 million dollars for the local economy and is described by one local farmer as the biggest thing in the region since the Gold Rush.

Will we in Ireland ever make a serious move to develop cycle trails on a major scale like this. If this is what can be achieved in a remote island nation like New Zealand, imagine all the potential cycle tourists right on our doorstep, in the UK and on the continent.
