I've been looking at this on donedeal the last few nights. Almost at the point of buying one. Turns out the €220 is excluding vat so the total is €270 but still think I'll go for it.
Anyone here have one that can tell me anything about them?
I was on a farm some years ago that had one,(or something very similar) I seen it working and thought it was a great job. Forgot all about it until I seen this the other night!
    Here's the donedeal link

Any feedback or advice would be good, cheers!

They are not bad but you need quite animals and usually you will only be able to inject once as the animal doesnt forget the experience. I have mine a good few year but dont use it that often. I must go and buy the crossbow and dart injection gun which seems from research is a better machine

Take that youtube clip with a serious pinch of salt, notice like he just jabs the first cow in front of him.

I see you can even inject the animals from horseback:D

So I say, go for it, and send me a PM, when you get it. I will be able to cut you a good deal for a horse:cool:

Surely it must be dangerous for an animal when an injection is administered at such high speed? Seems to be puttin in alot at once very fast.

I imagine that it is very limited if you has to give an animal 20-30 cc of an injection I wonder would it work it would be handy when they were in the shed and you wanted to inject one or two. Also it seem to be only suitablr foe intermuscular

Just bit the bullet and bought one! My Dad contacted a farmer in Monaghon that has one for a few years and uses it quite a bit.
He said exactly what has been said here-you'll get the animal no problem in the field the first day but they'll be getting wise to you by the second day.
The guy thats selling them said this too he seems straight enough-told the downsides and the upsides of one.
Our cattle are quite used to the quad rolling up beside them when herding so hopefully we'll get a jab at them handy enough. Think it'll be good for doing a beast that might have a touch of pnemonia without having to get them in to a pen and excite them.
The Monaghon farmer said he uses his in the shed all winter.
I'll let ye know how it goes thanks for your comments.
And thanks for the offer of the horse but think we'll stick with the quad:D

As I said if I was buying again I would buy the medidart. seems more fun anyway and a better system of operation

I know I'm dragging up an old thread..

Anyone ever buy that crossbow dart injector. Medidart or something similar? It looks like a great job, if it works. I would go for the Masterject except the most recent animal I need it won't let me near him. Also who sells it? As Bob says it does look like fun too.

    Had a look around Google...

    Available from America on Ebay.

    http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/viewitem?itemId=280946580649&index=0&nav=SEARCH&nid=93240455869

Pricy though, $420 + $60 delivery = 360 euros. Might have to add on Vat and Customs cut too...

It would be nearly as cheap to buy a portable crush and gates :P
Knowing the shot I have I would more than likely take the eye out of the cow instead of the neck . I would say its uses would be limited enough .

If the crossbow is rated above a certain velocity it becomes classed as a firearm. No idea of the figures or whether the medidart would be above or below but might be worth considering especially if your importing.

We have the Masterject and I can honestly say I absolutely detest it. Used it once or twice and never went near it since.
If your going to be blowing antibiotics or whatever into an animal you might as well get them in the crush and look at what your dealing with properly.

Each to their own, I know a few lads that swear by it. Were as I just swear at ours, everytime I look at it in the office gathering dust.

We have ours over a year now and we swear by it.its a crying shame to have your one sitting on a shelf, take it out again and start using it. we took a while to get the hang of ours but we wouldn't be without it now.

Going to get the Masterject as I have a bullock with 2 bad legs who is able to get away from me but would not make it in the crush. The crossbow would have been a fun way to do it but I'd say the Masterject is practical for difficult animals.
