HTC incredile S - No Sound

    Hi folks,

Just wanted to raise this to get another point of view or if anyone has experienced something similar
On Tuesday, from as far as I can tell the sound stopped working on my HTC incredible S for no apparent reason...

Tuesday morning it was working fine (used for an alaram). During my day in work i plugged m headphones in and went play some music.
Initially I thought it was the headphones however when i raise the volume via the left side button, there no 'signal chimes'

I then tested the phone by ringing it and no ringtone was played and while watching a YouTube clip, no sound came through either.
On a call, I can hear people normally
also the load speaker still works fine during a call.

I thought it might be a hardware problem and thought maybe i should replace the speaker but since the load speaker still works on calls I don’t think it will be

I haven’t installed any new apps recently that could conflict the settings as far as I know.
I have tried powering off the phone an taking out the battery as well as factory resetting it. Neither have resolved the issue.

Does anyone have any idea or have come across similar issues?
If you would like anymore information please let me know

the software version is android 2.3.5

    Thanks,

    sorry,

    Just to add:

when i make a call and someone picks up, the call always begins with the speaker on.

Also, i just noticed while on a call i can hear the tone when a button is pressed. as soon as i end the call, the key pad tones are gone

plug a set of headphones into the phone. if you can hear sound through those then your speaker is blown.... if not then its either a setting or the soundchip is blown.
