VW Scirocco ?

I'm kinda surprised ( maybe even dissappointed ) that a lot of Scirocco's have only a 1.4 petrol engine. This engine is a Tsi - not really sure what this means.
Is this engine adequate for a car like the Scirocco ? Does it give the performance that might be expected from a Scirocco ?

TSi engines are turbocharged for the lower power ones (122&140bhp) and twin charged (supercharger and turbo for the 170bhp).

Have a look for a recent thread on the TSi engine, they are prone to streching the timing chains.

If I was buying it would be the 2.0tfsi (petrol turbo) engine I'd go for.

The scirocco has the 122 and 160bhp 1.4tsi engines. They aren't what you would expect in a car like that but are priced accordingly. The 2 litre is more expensive but a rare enough beast on these shores. Most are either 122bhp petrols 2 litre 140 diesels.

Like most coupés in this country, they seem to be driven by men with a pathological fear of the accelerator. IMO 80bhp would be more than adequate.

My mum bought a Scirocco last year with the 1.4 TSI Bluemotion engine and it actually surprised me a bit (I encouraged the 2.0 TSI but that engine would have been a bit wasted on her).

I went straight from driving my OH's A4 DTM which has the 2.0 TFSI to hers one evening and it didn't seem lacking. I think because it's a much lighter car it didn't feel inadequately powered. If it were me I'd prob go to the UK and get a Scirocco R second hand with the DSG.

She specced it well when she was ordering it and actually looks much nicer than the bog standard versions. The panoramic roof looks really good on it and brightens up the cabin. Gives the driver and passenger about an inch or two extra headroom aswell. Visibility out the back is very limited so parking sensors are also very beneficial. I personally think the steering wheel for the 2010 models to current models is much nicer aswell.

It's nice. 211PS 2 litre TFSI engine, different wheels, Quattro and some carbon fibre bits. Looks really well, especially in blue. My neighbour has one but it's a god awful spec as standard like theirs. Work out rear windows.

you can get a A4 Quattro DTM edition, AFAIK only 05 years exist

nothing felt or skanger about them at all. only a thousand or so were ever made

    2.0 petrol.

which rules out many ever sold in Ireland
