You mean the fan isn't actually working or its just not blowing hot air?

There is no air at all
So I assume the fan isn't working

It is probably a problem with the resistor pack, which is located on the side of the heater box in the driver's side footwell.

If its the resistor pack, it would likely still work at the full speed setting. Fuse for the fan would be first place to look anyway.

I can hear a noise down there when I turn it on but nothing happens

None of the fuses seem to be gone

On most cars yes but when these BMW resistor packs fail the fan stops working altogether.

Is it a big job to replace it??

No, only takes a few minutes. It is a little bit awkward to access due to the location but nothing out of the ordinary.

What sort of money do you reckon I'm looking at for a scrapyard replacement

Scrapyards usually charge around €40 but you can buy a new one for not much more than that.

Fair play I'll strip it out the weekend hopefully that sorts it
