Why don't the HSA do something about this?

I'm no fan of all this health and safety bullshit but why isn't something done about the lads hanging onto the back of bin lorries?

Today I was driving into college and I came up behind a bin lorry, it was doing 35 miles an hour with two lads hanging onto the back of it with one of them smoking a fag. They weren't wearing a harness of any kind nor did they have any sort of head protection, if they were to lose their grip at that speed they would probably be seriously injured or a car could hit them.

What are your thoughts on this AH?

If someone wants to stand on the back of a bin lorry, let them. I'd have no problem doing it myself

Also bring back lads sitting on trailers, in the back of pick ups and what have you. Great craic and a mighty way to enjoy the fresh air on a summers day

How many binmen have been injured by falling from lorries in the last 10 years? My guess is very few.

Let's stop trying to come up with solutions to problems that don't exist.

We should introduce a ''hanging onto the back of bin lorries'' tax.

So when they fall they can be dragged along?
They know what they are doing.

No they don't, every Friday, I have to pick up all the bits they spill as they empty. Puhh!

So, Thats what's clogging up the hospital system, binmen who have fallen off the back of the lorry..They've all the beds taken up, none left for the childer,

Wrap them in bubble wrap and stick them to the lorry with duct tape

Why do we always have to make laws to protect people from doing dangerous things? If the guy gets hurt he gets hurt and it was his own dumb fault for hanging on to the back when he could have sat in the cab. Once people are made aware of how they should do something if they do something dangerous and it results in them getting hurt they chose to do it so let them suffer the consequences.

Sometimes I like doing something dangerous because it can often be fun and often you feel much more alive when you came near to death. If I chose to do a stupid thing and I get hurt then the fault is my own and I should suck it up. There are too many stupid people suing because they did something stupid which resulted in there injury these days. If you’re a dumb ass and get hurt though luck!

There already are rules about this I think, something like max speed with someone on the back 19mph.

If you're not able to hold on you're probably not cut out for the job anyway so let nature take its course and all that.
