There is no such thing as "the best time to buy a computer".

There always one consumer electronics show or other going on somewhere on the planet where manufacturers present their latest products.

Same goes for deals, most dealers have "special offers" all year round.

And as they say, waiting for the next best thing is a loser's game. ;)

I'd just keep an eye out for sales and bargains. The Dell factory shop turns up some great gems regularly.

In short, when you need it most.

January is traditionally bargain time, in brick and mortar stores that holds true mostly. In clicks and mortar stores, well any time really. Companies often put a few models on below cost to generate a bit of activity, you just have to keep looking out for the deals as they happen

Bought this 2 weeks ago & thought I'd pass it on. Not sure if it deserves another thread. 17.3-inch screen, 2.2GHz CPU, 6GB RAM & Intel HD 3000 Graphics Card for £415.

Catch is they don't deliver to Ireland so shipped to these guys in Newry who sent it down to me for an extra €22. Didn't mind really as the laptop was free delivery anyway.

Or you could read up on upcoming releases or refreshes on laptops etc.
Example; the Macbook line gets refreshed every year-ish, to be on par with newer laptops.

Right now though? If you're looking to get one, wait until they release the Ivy Bridge processors, which is due around May-ish. So... Le summer? :3
Don't know what they are? This might help :)

As for deals? Hit Google up for "(manufacturer name) coupons" while localizing the search to Ireland. It's usually used with online purchases. You could knock off a good bit off the initial price.
