Law Assignment - Need Help

    Hey All,

I am doing an assignment on Negligence within Nursing. I have most of it done. (its due in less that 2 days eeks)

The part i am stuck on: i need examples of cases where nurses have been found guilty of negligence. These need to be referenced so they need to be published or on a legit website. I have checked out my college library and to no avail. I checked Courts.ie but couldn't find any such cases. Irish cases would be great but i will happily take English examples.

So i guess my question is does anybody know a good site or somewhere i could get books from that will have what i am looking for?

    Any help is much appreciated.

    Are you a law student?

Try any legal reference website: Lexis, Westlaw, Justis. You'll get plenty of results.

No i am a student nurse so not used to doing assignments on law. We have always talked about law within subjects since it is a part of nursing but this year we actually had a dedicated module so hence the assignment :(

I'll give them sites a go. Thanks very much.

Donoghue and Stevenson in the daddy for modern negligence law. What exactly are you looking for? Medical Negligence. Most importantly are you a female nursing student and do you go to Coppers? :D

Sorry in my haste to see if you went to coppers I didnt read your post properly! Google search it get the cases and track them back to get a citation the legit referce you speak of. Irish Times online would also be accpetable to cite - law students use that all the time for "unreported" cases.

Stick some results of what you find on here if you're stuck and I'll go dig up the citation for you.

Just because you're NOT a law student I'll give you a nudge in the right direction.

Nurses can of course be liable for negligence although many of the cases dealing with it have focused on the hospital being liable as they have the deeper pockets.

    Strangways-Lesmere v. Clayton [1936] 2 KB 11 is a good example
