Replacing and formatting the HDD in UPC MediaBox HD?

Yesterday I turned on my UPC box and a message is shown that the HDD has failed.
I could call and wait a week for it to be replaced, but I know it only has a 320GB drive which is kind of small and I am always running out of space.
I had a spare 2TB drive so I replaced it myself.
I have put entire PC's and servers together many times and am familiar with it so it was no big deal.

But it seems the UPC box is not happy about the new drive.
At first it appeared to work fine, but whenever I have a recording scheduled, and the box is in standby mode, it crashes.
The recording never gets recorded and the box will crash every time I take it out of standby until I power it off with the switch at the back.

If I change the power settings in the menu so the box never goes into standby then everything works as normal but then it just wastes power when I am not using it.

I did try the "factory reset" but it did not fix the problem, and I notice my recordings were still there after the reset, so it just resets the internal memory and not the HDD.

Does anyone know how to access the hidden menu on this box to format the HDD like on the sky box?
It is a Cisco 8485DVB, slim black box on the front says "upc mediabox hd digital video recorder".

You don't own the UPC box like you would own a Sky+ box(you only rent the box from UPC and it remains their property,if you cancel etc they will collect the box back from you) so I wouldn't recommend altering it in any way shape or form tbh.

I got a HDD failure message on the same box as yours. I unplugged it from the wall, plugged it back in and the Box was fine ! Message never reapperared and working fine for last 6 months .
