SMW is on the Virtual Console - wouldn't recommend playing it on a Gamecube controller, by the way, the buttons for jump and spin are reversed and it's annoying as hell; get a Classic or Classic Pro controller (or the awesome Snes-style controller from the Nintendo Stars catalogue!).

But it's original form was a grey cartridge which you'd have a hell of a time plugging into your Wii without some serious MacGuyvering.

    What, too pedantic?

Available on Wii V.C., Snes and as a GBA remake. Pretty easy to find.

I played it with the classic controller.
Tempted to wipe my save and play it again since getting the snes classic controller from club nintendo.

My favourite game of all time.

If you don't have any Wiishop points, check in HMV, they occasionally sell the WiiPoint cards for half price, making the over-priced games almost reasonable value. (ie 3000 points for €15 instead of €30 so a SNES game notionally costs you €4 instead of €8)

Also, if you've never connected that Wii to the shop before and want a few free points to get you going, allow me to whore my signature for a moment....

Beware that if you want to play SMW on Virtual Console for the Wii, you will need a classic controller or (if you have an old Wii, a Gamecube controller).

Also be aware that the VC edition is a poor PAL conversion - the game runs slower than it's supposed to. Picking up an old GBA and a copy of SMW for it is an alternative.

Is this the same game that just went up on the 3DS E Shop tonight? I have the GB edition (seems a waste having purchased it now) but i'm pretty sure this new one on the E Shop is from the SNES

Did they not put SM Bros (NES) rather than World (SNES) on the eShop? Can't connect right now to confirm. Would be delighted if SMW is up...

Just regular NES version today (same as the one on the Ambassador program in 2011). Tonight it will be available for all.

Super Mario Bros. is on the eShop now.
    Completely different game.
SMW might come out later in the next few years.

Have Nintendo planned to release SNES games on the Eshop? They would make a fortune if that was to occur.

get yourself along to the R.A.G.E. shop on fade street in Dublin City Centre, they sell SNES, with Pads and such like, lots of games too. also check out the arcade and retro forum here on Boards where there are lots of helpful people!
