Hi Im thinking of booking a holiday to Lanzarote in June. I was just wondering whether it is ok to wear a thong on the beach. I dont want to break any laws or offend anyone. Thanks

Thanks. I probably should have clarified that Im a guy. I presume there is no issue with a guy wearing a thong on the beach?

Again, I've seen a lot worse!

It's pretty much anything goes, I've even seen skinny dippers on Matagorda beach in the early evening time.

    Can you elaborate?

What was it you didn't like about it?

i was there with wife and small child. playa des america was nearest spot for restaurants. street was full of prositutes. i remember later, Panorama or similar programme on bbc doing a programme highlightling the same issue among others.

is that sufficient reason not to like it ?

I was wondering! One thing Lanzarote is not is a kip! Some parts aren't great but overall it's a good spot.

    As you were...

All cleaned up now, drugs and brassers all gone. Lovely place to bring the wife and kids.

There is a small village on the north east where a thong would be considered over dressed tbh.

Its not the nicest view when ascending from a dive and looking up into a group of obese naked Germans.

Fratton Fred is right, there is a nudist beach at "Charco del Palo", near the small village of "Mala" (northeast coast). Also a part of the beaches of "Papagayo" in Playa Blanca.

IIRC, the entire village is "Liberated". It's not so much of a beach either, more a rocky bay where you swim off the Lava fingers.

The Dive, by the way, is known as cocks n rocks:D

Papagayo is one hell of a letdown considering you have to drive along a 4 mile dirt track that rattles every bone in your body to hell. Not to mention the mad fact that they charge you to use the track on the basis that you're crossing a National Park or something.
