Well you could just head in to a shop and tell the artist what you want and he\she could make up a rough sketch for you?

Be sure to have specifics on your design so you're getting exactly what you've asked for. Sites like google image search and deviantart are great for ideas if you're at a loss describing what you're looking for.

Any tattoo artist should be able to translate your ideas to paper. Pop in and have a chat with one. You don't always have to have the image you want before getting a tattoo

yeah i've been looking at images on google for the basis for the tattoo so i could print off them and bring them in i suppose. any recommendations on tattoo artists who are good at this type of work?

Depends on the style of tattoo really. Some artists are very talented at certain styles, but good places to start would be Colourworks in Temple Bar or Snakebite on Abbey St.

Also take a look at Skin City on William St them and the two places have websites were you can check out thre artists portfolios, compare there styles to what you want done.

Then go in and chat to the artist themselves and theyll work with you each step of the way.
