Survey on Asian Cinema and Film Festivals

Hey folks,

I'm doing some research at the moment on the audience consumption of Asian cinema and film festivals. It's part of my thesis project, but more interestingly I'm hoping to run an East Asian film festival at the end of this year based on the findings and results.

I've done up a quick 5-10 minute survey, and since the film forum is full of enthusiasts I can't think of a better place to start gathering some responses. Please feel free to fill it out if you're not particularly familiar with the subject matter either! The link is below:

Very interesting johnny_ultimate.
You got me searching on my lists to find favourite films and recent ones - it turns out that I haven't been watching many east Asian films recently.

Good luck with the thesis and if you manage to organize the festival, I will probably be there!!

But asking us to list only three of our favourite Asian films is just evil. I ended up putting down the ones I have on DVD the longest and have probably watched the most, but it's impossible to limit it to just three.

As far as 'monster films with guys in crappy suits and iffy special effects' go, Godzilla is actually a pretty smart nuclear allegory. Can't say the same about the rest of the series, mind.

Hope all goes well. Would like to see a dedicated mini-festival. Would love to see Summer Wars or The Girl Who Leapt Through Time in the cinema (I was working when Summer Wars was shown last year)

I'll try and get something together somewhere along the line.

But a quick glance suggests the likes of Battle Royale, Old Boy and Spirited Away are the most popular by somewhat of a distance.
